Joy of Love in Family

What is March for Life? And Why?
Story Image

World over, the mass rally called March for Life, is held annually in the United States and other European countries, to highlight the value of life, especially the value of human life. In India, March for Life was held in Delhi in 2022 and in Pune in 2023. In 2024, the March for Life will be held in Kerala, known as God's own country. The March for Life is being held in God's own Country to inform the world of the gospel of life according to the words of Jesus who came to bring life and give it abundantly.

It is very important to hold such a March for Life in India. Because official figures indicate that 1.66 crore human babies are killed in the wombs of their mothers every year in India.

Under the cover of the MTP Act (Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act) of 1971, so many babies are being killed. About eighteen laws are known to exist in India for the protection of children. But it is seen as a contradiction that the MTP Act, like a Damocles sword, stands above all these to take the lives of babies.

Therefore, it is necessary to repeal this law. Psalm 21:13 says, "Whoever does not listen to the cry of the poor will mourn, and no one will hear." Today we hear the cry that children are not taking care of the elders from many families. Because the parents whom God blessed with children in their prime age, rejected those children, the condition of having no one to protect them in their old age has been created. With Kerala's aging population increasing, it is imperative to give birth to the unborn babies.

It is not too late to realise that every child is for the good of the country and population is an asset not a liability. ...

Archbishop's Message

Beloved in Jesus,

The third National March for Life India under the leadership of CHARIS India is taking place in Thrissur! On this occasion, I am glad to know that Loaf Tidings Online Trimonthly Magazine, published under the leadership of Legion of Apostolic Families (LOAF), a Consecrated Society of Families of Trichur Archdiocese, is being published under the central theme of “March for Life India 2024!” My heartiest congratulations to the LOAF families behind this venture, especially the LOAF Media Ministry!

I am happy to introduce LOAF to all of you who have come from different parts of India to participate in the March for Life India 2024. LOAF is a Consecrated Society of Catholic families. Therefore, LOAF members are couples who live a Consecrated life by adopting the Evangelical Counsels as personal vows after adapting them to married life. The three Vows are Obedience, Conjugal Chastity and a Simple Life. LOAF families are striving to be a family that studies the teachings of the Church and lives the original divine plan of the Family. That is why they are pro-life. They are trying to have more children and make them good Catholics.

May God abundantly bless every individual and family participating in March for Life India 2024!

+Mar Andrews Thazhath,   Metropolitan Archbishop of Trichur & President, CBCI.
